A new show for me this year!

Join me for the spring Makers Market at Torr Vale Mill, in the High Peak of Derbyshire on Sunday 12th May.

It’s an independent Makers Market, showcasing the best makers and artists in the High Peak and surrounding areas.

Torr Vale Mill is the best surviving example of a 19th-century cotton mill in New Mills – a town with a strong industrial heritage. It was built in the 1780’s by Daniel Strafford and is positioned in the centre of town at the bottom of a dramatic 40m deep sandstone gorge (The Torrs), two waterwheels were powered to spin and weave cotton until it was rebuilt in 1856, and a steam engine added.

You can find out more through this link.

I am happy to share that you can find this collection of brights available at the MADE GALLERY in Uppingham, Leicestershire.

The Muddy Stilleto people said the following recently:

It’s the perfect place to get a fix of pretty pieces of jewellery and an eclectic mix of edgy art, ceramics, prints, cards, wooden planters, and more with an emphasis on everything being handmade by different creative makers.

With a fab new shop at the top of Uppingham’s pretty High Street, Made Gallery features work from over 70 artists on show; from the quirky and contemporary work of Karen Risby to beautiful and delicate pieces of jewellery from Jennifer Wall. The new premises mean the owner Julia, has more space than before and is able to offer larger workshops in the upstairs space.

As well as samples of work, there are also exhibitions, workshops (coming soon) and also a design and commission service where you can create your own bespoke piece of jewellery – now that’s a nice idea for the big day – just saying!

Doesn’t it sound lovely!

Thank you having me Julia!

Super excited to be posting a new order to Sarah Wiseman at her stunning gallery in Summertown, Oxford.

I am in very good company amid some of my ceramic heroes such as Rhian Malin, Linda Bloomfield, and Dawn Hajittofi. February 19th, 2023

Well, this is pretty amazing! A good 18 months ago Sue Pryke contacted me to ask if I would like to contribute to the new book she was writing with glaze goddess Linda Bloomfield. How could I say no?

It’s a wonderful book filled with 50 ceramic designers and makers’ tableware. Lots of unique insights into many making processes including a great section about Sue and her established business and world-recognised designs. Also, Linda sharing her extensive glaze knowledge too!

My small two-pager is about my 3d print processes and how I have used this method to make models for ceramic moulds. I spent the summer of 2021 at the Clayrooms in Ashbourne having lots of fun, press moulding and hand-building a few small vases (would you believe) I have since made a slip cast mould and am looking forward to making ceramics again this summer. I am not sure when the ceramics will make it into my collection of designs for sale … but one day hopefully 😁

You can buy the book through this link.

I am very happy to share another new stockist over in Woodbridge, Suffolk. VANIL is an independent lifestyle store with a cool Scandi vibe, which of course suits my mini vases perfectly.

‘Our shop is our home and from here, we curate a unique assortment of Scandinavian-inspired accessories, furniture, and home décor which we carefully select from designers that we love. We feel passionate about championing partnerships with creatives who share a belief in slow design, which is all about taking time to create designs you’ll cherish for a lifetime’.

We have spent many a happy summer in this area on family holidays and its lovely to have my work represented for the first time in Suffolk.

Thank you for having me Mandy and thank you Lisa B for the introduction ❤️

January 6th, 2023

Just packing up a small collection for a new exhibition in Lancaster at ARTERIA!

This is a gorgeous shop that we stumbled across a few years ago. My son studied at the Uni so before lockdown we were lucky to have a few days out in this really lovely town. I was thrilled when approached to take part in this exhibition, it’s entitled RAW.

I am really excited to see how the work is displayed and how the lovely folks of Lancaster receive it. Also to see the other makers who are taking part.

Another fab start to January 2023!

The exhibition opens on February 4th and closes on 6th May.

January 1st, 2023

Absolutely thrilled to share that I will be posting my work to the PLATFORM GALLERY this week for their forthcoming show PLATFORM AND FUNCTION which opens on January 16th and runs through to March 25th. I received a showcase award at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair from the lovely team at the gallery which gave me the opportunity to take part in this show!

This was my second award in 2022 and I am still pinching myself!

January 01, 2023

Really happy to be starting 2023 off with another new stockist!

This brand-new store will be under the ownership and creative direction of Emma Trott of Olive Rose Jewellery.

I met Emma at my first Craft Festival in Cheltenham in March 2022 and we had a mutual admiration moment, with our love for colour!

Emma will be stocking a selective group of other Jewellery makers and will be using my vases to dress the cabinets and displays, in a very specific color story chosen by Emma of course!

December 19th, 2022

One year after exhibiting in the New Makers exhibition at the Bluecoat display centre, I am pleased to share that I have been asked to feature in their January Window display!

Yes, that is one whole month that my mini vases will be fully viewed in the window of this established and iconic home of craft and design in Liverpool!

The lovely team asked me a few months ago and I have been desperate to share this excitement.

I will be preparing the work over the next week and delivering it at the end of December, another excuse for a culture fix in this great city.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!

Christmas Gift Market at Compton Verney, Warwickshire, CV35 9HZ
Friday 9 & Saturday 10 December, 10.30am - 8pm
Sunday 11 December, 10.30am - 4pm

From 9 to 11 December, we are also curating the Christmas Gift Market at the award-winning Warwickshire art gallery Compton Verney, home to the largest collection of folk art in the UK. The centrepiece of Compton Verney’s Christmas celebrations, the fair will see around 20 invitation-only exhibitors offering a mix of high-quality crafts and artisan-made goods in a festive marquee.

In what is now a keenly-anticipated tradition, artists from Warwickshire have been invited to help transform Compton Verney’s spectacular windows, each with its own festive design relating to the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’. Large wooden reindeer in the ‘Capability’ Brown landscape will form a light-hearted treasure hunt, while artist Morag Myerscough’s fascinating and very bright installation, The Village, will illuminate the Old Town Meadow. Elsewhere there will be music and Christmas carols to enjoy, a Santa’s grotto for children and Yuletide-themed afternoon teas.

The newly opened Dutch Flower Paintings exhibition – featuring a selection of the finest examples of Dutch flower paintings from the National Gallery’s collection, including works by Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder, Rachel Ruysch and Jan van Huysum – can also be visited with an optional ticket upgrade.

Tickets cost £10 including access to the grounds, permanent exhibition, gift shop and restaurant. Members and children go free.

March 14th, 2022

We have just returned from our first time exhibiting at Craft Festival Cheltenham and I am thrilled to share that I was awarded the Showcase Award by LLantarnam Grange, a gallery in South Wales. The award was presented by Louise Jones-Williams the gallery’s Director and Sarah James, Director of the Craft Festival.

I was absolutely blown away with this award, the prize being a 7-week showcase in the gallery sometime in 2023! I am not ashamed to say that it was an emotional experience and yes there were tears as we head towards this collection’s first year anniversary on March 23rd.

We had such a wonderful three days talking to customers and fellow exhibitors, meeting so many other makers, who I had connected with previously online but now in person, was such a treat.

I will be exhibiting again with Craft Festival at Bovey Tracy in June and can’t wait.

March 9th, 2022

I am thrilled to share you can now purchase the above collection through Kip Hideaways in their super cool online Kip Kiosk.

Emily asked me to pick a hideaway that I felt suited my brand and product and I chose the Devon Secret Cabin. You will see two of my vases styled in this gorgeous hidden gem, I really want to visit myself.

Happy Holidays all!

February 26th, 2022

On March 10th we will be heading south to Cheltenham to take part in the Craft Festival.

I can’t wait to share my new collection at this event, here is a little sneaky peek of a few of my new designs.

I am so excited to see how my collection is received and speak to customers and also my creative neighbours at the show. With 100 makers there will be so much to see and hopefully we can explore Cheltenham a little too!

On Friday March 11th, Keith Brymer-Jones is opening the Festival and talking to a live audience about his life & new book, Boy in a China Shop. I have met Keith on one of his many visits to Staffordshire University where I also teach, he is an amazingly supportive ambassador for our course Product, Furniture, Ceramics BA (hons)

There is still lots to do in preparation, but I am extremely excited to have this opportunity, less than one year after launching my collection of 3d printed designs.

February 26th, 2022

The NEW MAKERS exhibition closed today at the Bluecoat Display Centre in Liverpool and it has been wonderfully received with two restocks required during the showtime. I am thrilled to have been invited to stay on in their general gallery space which is such an honour as I will sit alongside some of my craft and design heroes, such as Justine Allison Ceramics!

I am still pinching myself!

I am coming up to my one-year anniversary of this website launch and the introduction of the ‘hello beautiful’ collection back in March 2021.

What a year!

I am very excited to announce I have been selected to take part in the Craft Festival Cheltenham in March 2022.

Craft Festival, Cheltenham was founded in 2018, they believe that working in partnership is the key to success and sustainability. Their partners Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, madebyhandonline.com, Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre and Unit Twelve Gallery have been a vital part of their success.

I can’t wait to share my new collection at this event, the hotel is booked and although I am having a couple of weeks rest over the Christmas holidays my sketchbook won’t be far from my side as I am itching to start making new things.

A wonderful end to my first year of business.

The Bluecoat Display Centre is a nationally and internationally recognised contemporary craft and design gallery that has been established since 1959. They sell, exhibit and promote over 350 selected contemporary craftspeople each year working in a broad variety of media. I have visited a few times in the past and never dreamed I would be asked to submit work for an exhibition, another wonderful end to my first year of business.

I will share more nearer the time.

Excited to share I have popped up again in another of the CURATED MAKERS made local pop-up events. This time in Leeds Trinity shopping centre. You will find a selection of my mini vases available amongst 40 other makers designs and products. This is a temporary event until Christmas, so pop on in if you are local. I think I need a trip to Leeds sometime soon!

October 12th, 2021

Following on from the Curated Makers Pop up at the World of Wedgwood I will be supplying a small collection to this new little shop created by the World of Wedgwood team. The shop is called @josiah.and.co, purveyors of local goods. A little shop with a big ambition to put local artisans on the map!
They have sourced some of the best local makers in the Staffordshire area and I can’t wait to visit and see how it’s going.

Another maker listed is Dominic Marshall Design, check out his website for more information about his screen printing adventures. A little shout out for my super talented hubby… and why not 😁

September 17th, 2021

I’m excited to share this news !

As part of the Great Northern Contemporary Crafts Fair, I have been selected to take part in the TRAILBLAZERS showcase selected by the Manchester Art Gallery shop. They shared this post last night with my mini vase collection nestled amongst this amazing group of makers.

Makers such as Studio Critical who hand turns these elegant wooden vases, one of which I had to snap up during the GNCCF online event back in July. I have a thing for small and beautiful.

Also, Larka Jewellery makes graphic and crispy designs that combine high-tech laser cutting and more traditional jewellery-making techniques in acrylic, walnut, and metals.

I think I might be spending any profit on some self-gifting!

The Manchester Art Gallery shop is open Wednesday through to Sunday from 10 - 5 so if you are in the vicinity why not pop in and see my mini vases for yourself.

We have still yet to visit the Grayson’s Art Club exhibition which runs until October 31st at the Manchester Art Gallery, it is free but booking is essential. Grayson and Philippa were such a tonic during the lockdown inspiring the nation to get creative. We absolutely loved it! I can’t believe just 6 months into my new design venture my designs are showcased so close to Grayson’s art pieces, I am seriously not worthy.

Back to the studio for me, creating new shapes and prints for the show in 3 weeks time.

September 11th, 2021

I’m excited to share the link below to book your tickets for the Great Northern Contemporary Crafts Fair which opens on Friday 8th October through to Sunday 10th October at Victoria Baths, Manchester. This is going to be my first ever LIVE show. The Designs are underway, the stand is being made and the hotel is booked, only 3 weeks to go… I am nervous and excited at the same time. I hope you can pop along to say hello, maybe get lots of your Christmas presents snapped up, and have a wonderful day out in one of our coolest cities.

The Victoria Baths were designed to be the grandest baths in Britain when they opened in 1906, the decorative tiled and stained glass interiors of this Grade II listed Edwardian landmark will be a fitting backdrop for the GNCCF.

The GNCCF is an amazing celebration of British craft with jewellery, textile accessories, print, furniture, lighting, ceramics, metal and glass available to buy.

Over half of the 160 makers selected for the fair will be exhibiting for the first time, including me! Alongside 30 recent graduates in the emerging talent exhibition, Changing Spaces.

CRAFT SAYS…
“Be brave, trust your taste. Because you don’t need to follow the herd; you’re smarter, savvier and more stylish than you think".

I am looking forward to meeting the organisers, Ann- Marie and Angela who have made the whole process pretty much painless.
